The two basic ways to get visitors to your website are either through organic (unpaid) traffic or paid traffic. Regardless of what people think concerning organic traffic presently, organic traffic and SEO still rock. We understand that getting organic traffic to your website is hard, coupled with the fact that PPC Ads appear above the top organic search results.

This could make you feel channelling efforts into organic traffic strategy is an enormous waste of time. But it isn’t.

What is Organic Traffic?

Organic traffic is when your website receives visitors through an online search, from search engines like Google, Bing, Yahoo, Ask, etc. This is when your webpage is clicked amongst other pages on the Search Engine Result Page (SERP).

The aspect of organic traffic that focuses on improving or getting you more traffic is called SEO — Search Engine Optimisation. It is SEO that makes your website appear on the first page of SERP.

This traffic can be segmented from other types of traffic, which includes paid search, social media, direct, referral, and email, using Google Analytics. Having an overview of how your website is performing without advertising, helps you to correct every weakness and re-optimise necessary pages of your website.

Reasons Why Organic Traffic and SEO still Rock

It doesn’t matter if your business is established or you’re just starting out. You can’t ignore the place of organic traffic for these reasons:

 

  • It’s free: though organic traffic does not require additional advertising budget, it is advisable to invest in copywriting, SEO, and video production experts. These core persons being on your team will enable you to create robust content (in pictures, texts and motion graphics or videos) that builds your search ranking and generates more traffic.  

 

  • It propels new business: except you’re already a conglomerate, only then would you rely on referrals or paid traffic alone. Otherwise, your website has to appear in the top results of searches (especially local search) related to your product or service. For you to attract your potential clients or customers.

 

  • It’s algorithm friendly: organic traffic is search-algorithm-friendly because it sends positive signals to the search algorithm. Signals like; lower bounce rate, longer time on site, and more pages per session compared to traffic from other sources. 

 

  • It’s cost-effective: for startups and small businesses, budgets can be very tight. Investing in paid campaigns might not be an option at the initial stage. But, you can create content regularly and climb the rankings with the help of organic SEO.

Ways to Improve your SEO and Increase Organic Traffic

Despite that organic traffic and SEO still rock, there are certain things you need to do to improve your site’s SEO and also increase your organic traffic. There’s no doubt that with good content and SEO tactic, your website stands the chance of ranking high on Google. However, content and SEO aren’t enough to get you that top rank on Google.

Organic traffic is one effective way to attract key decision-makers in business. As they mostly do their research online before making the final decision. If your website has quality content and ranks high on Google, chances of these decision-makers contacting you are high. Especially when your content is appealing.

Don’t give up on organic traffic and SEO yet. Keep churning out fresh content as often as possible, and stay consistent with it.
